Soapbox Derby a big winner!
Friday, 15 August 2014 22:58

We are very happy to report that the 1st NASKARZ/Raycam Soapbox Derby was an unqualified success. Participants raced carts that were built at Vancouver Community College througout the summer by youth in the Nascarz program.  Everyone had a great time and the youth that participated hope that this will be the start of a yearly tradition.  The event also featured a BBQ and slot and remote control cars for younger kids to play with.

A big thank you especially to Bob G, Alex, Tim, Kurt, Paul, Linda, Sonja, Darren, Carin, Bob Wong, Tobias and Rachelle.   The City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Police Department were also extremely helpful in setting up this event. Together we formed a great team!

Family dynamics, financial barriers, culture, and language can all impact children in ways where the he or she becomes socially isolated at school and excluded from extracurricular activities such as clubs or sports teams. Most of these kids are from lower income families that can’t afford or achieve the same access to opportunities
